Nirmala Palliative Care Centre – a Division of Health Care Charitable Society – is all set for its take off at the 24 cents of land at Vadavucode, near Kolenchery in Ernakulam District, Kerala, for its outpatient, inpatient and home care units.  The 15000 sq ft ground floor with 6 cubicles is ready to receive the inpatients.  The other two  storeys are in their advanced stages of construction.

The services of a doctor trained in palliative care would be available  during day time and on calls.  Nurses are positioned round-the-clock.  The total plan outlay works out to Rs. 2 crores with a monthly running expenditure of Rs. 2.50 Lakhs.  All the services are free of charges.

Dr. D Babu Paul, I.A.S. formally inaugurated the Centre at a solemn function held at the premises on 20th September 2018.  Justice P K Shamsudeen, Adv. V P Saseendran, M.L.A,  Dr. Thomas Varghese, Mr. C V Jacob and dignitaries from the Vadavucode-Puthencruz Grama Panchath spoke on the occasion.

The regular functioning of the Centre commenced on 1st October 2018.  Congratulations to the team members of the Centre who transformed their dream to reality.  Let us hope that this Centre would be able to deliver quality palliative care to the needy patients.
