“My background includes serving as a physician in general and Palliative care provider in particular.
Previously, I have worked in corporate as well as government hospitals as resident doctor in trauma centre, cancer institute, intensive care unit, department of cardiology and neurology. My fellowship in Palliative Medicine at Christian Medical College, Vellore was an opportunity to understand empathy of patients. I worked as senior research scholar as well, on a research project of Kala Azar (Visceral Leishmaniasis) at Indian Council for Medical Research, Patna. In these positions, I demonstrated the ability to resolve a variety of issues and complaints faced by general physicians in various aspects of clinical practice.
In addition to this experience, I had been associated with noble peace prize winning non government organization since days of under graduation. I worked voluntarily for the organization named International Physicians for Prevention of Nuclear War, IPPNW (noble prize for peace in 1985).While working for this organization; I was instrumental in starting up new student chapters of IPPNW in different medical colleges in India. I was part of awareness campaign and lobbying for nuclear free world, as a result I travelled various part of India as well as world viz Finland, Germany, Switzerland, Nepal etc. In different capacities in the organization, I gained considerable administrative, oratory and presentation skills. For social responsibilities I had worked in flood relief camps and raised money for earthquake victims.
I am also winner of various awards in debate, extempore, and other extracurricular activities. Other than these I am a sports enthusiast as well.
I also bring experience of working in different work cultures of government, private and missionary hospitals, medical college and non government organizations.”
